Christmas is  of course  the only season when the word "happy" makes great use. The introduction of "Merry Christmas" goes back at least 1565  in which the author of the manuscript public season Hereford had written and so I comity you to God  that you deliver a merry Christmas & much.  Charles Dickens  published in 1843 mother on Christmas  he pressed forward  as industrialization: the first on the counter traded included (also printed in 1843) Christmas card greetings a "Merry Christmas and happy new year to you".
